Drawing Nature in Colored Pencil

Supply List

Pad of drawing paper, Strathmore 400 series or something similar, 11 x 14-good quality.

Tracing Paper

Kneaded eraser

Graphite drawing pencils, 2H or HB

Hand held pencil sharpener with holder for shavings

Vase or water bottle to hold flower.

Colored Pencils:

If you have a set of good quality colored pencils (Prismacolors, Lyra, Derwent, Caran d’Ache) bring them otherwise it is better to buy your pencils individually. You will need the following basic colors :

Prismacolors

*Lemon Yellow

*Canary Yellow

*Scarlet

*Magenta

* Copenhagen Blue or Indigo Blue

*Ultramarine Blue

Orange

Limepeel

Black Grape

Tuscan Red

Yellow Ochre

Two or three of the lighter shades- Lilac, or Pink or a pale blue and any “spring” colors that appeal to you.

*essential for preliminary exercise

I will provide flowers or whatever we are going to draw.

If you like to keep a journal or notebook, bring that.
